Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins ❥ Short Book Review

Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1)Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

The first 150 pages or so were very slow for me, but from then on it was really interesting, action filled and overall quite enjoyable!

I really liked the love interest in this book and the shocking secret we learn about him at the end. I also really liked all the magical creatures in the book, since I’m a huge fantasy fan, and I think the way the author described them all and made them all fit together in this spooky school was really good.
I wasn’t a huge fan of Sophie, to be completely honest. She was totally missing a back-bone in my opinion and just did not stand up for herself very much. I still really enjoyed the world Hawkins created and the story, so it wasn’t all bad.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins ❥ Short Book Review

Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book! My head was stuck in it everywhere I went this entire day– I just could not put in down!

I loved how fun and breezy this story was. I loved the characters, the settings, the writing style. This book was just one big adventure for me and made me wish I was in a boarding school in France, too!
I cannot even count the amount of times I caught myself laughing out loud while reading it!
Also, can I just mention how drool-worthy St. Clair is?

To sum up, I loved, loved, loved everything about it and I recommend it 1 billion times! Go read it right this second!

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi ❥ Short Book Review

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow. I truly don’t understand why it took me so long to read this book.

Unravel Me was everything I wanted it to be. It was action-filled, intense and packed with romance. I loved every second of it. I really liked getting to know Kenji a little more in this book and finally meeting the scary Commander Anderson. Did I mention yet that I am absolutely obsessed with Warner? Well, let’s just say I finished this book feeling extremely satisfied. Chapter 62 wasn’t too shabby either 😉

It’s no secret that I absolutely adored Shatter Me and I’m so glad this sequel lived up to my expectations.

The Elite by Kiera Cass ❥ Short Book Review

The Elite (The Selection, #2)The Elite by Kiera Cass
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was amazing! I read it in one sitting over 6 hours.

With such a strong first book to the series, I wasn’t sure Cass will be able to deliver as strong a sequel- but I was totally blown away!
The story evolves in this book really nicely and things I’ve been wanting to happen for a while finally did.
Just like in The Selection, the characters were really nicely developed. We also got to see a little more into the other contestants’ personalities in this sequel and even got a peek at the prince’s darkest secrets, which I really liked.

I honestly cannot contain myself for the next book! 2014 cannot come any sooner.

Parallel by Lauren Miller ❥ Short Book Review

ParallelParallel by Lauren Miller
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
Expected Publication: May 14th 2013

This book was interesting. It was a mix of two stories that were actually one, which was both intriguing, interesting and really confusing all at the same time.
Parallel is the story of Abby and her parallel self from a year earlier.
I liked how the entire story came together, how each thing the parallel did affected Abby’s life. It made the story interesting and different. One drawback to this parallel thing was that it was hard at times to know who’s life I was following, since essentially it’s the same life.
The thing I liked the most about the book was probably the ending.. it was surprising, even shocking, and overall a great conclusion to this stand alone novel!

Overall, this was a very fun read and I really enjoyed it!

To Stand Beside Her ❥ Short Book Review

To Stand Beside HerTo Stand Beside Her by B. Kristin McMichael
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I wish I could give this book a 5-star rating. I really do. It’s just that although this book had an amazingly strong start, at about 70% into the book I could barely make myself keep reading it. I felt like the author stretched this story so much that it became almost boring.

Don’t get me wrong- this book was absolutely amazing! The story was extremely unique, interesting and really gripping and the writing was really good! It just wasn’t as great as it could have been. I felt like the ending was really rushed at some parts and stretched too thin on others. I would have much rather it had a sequel that contained all the information that was thrown onto the reader in the last couple chapters.

Overall, this was definitely a good book that’s totally worth reading, even with the not-so-satisfying ending.
